Universal Credit Scotland

If you live in Scotland, Universal Credit is different than the rest of the United Kingdom. If you live in a ‘full service’ area, you have more choice in payment structure.

After the first month’s full payment, you can choose to receive payments twice a month. You can also choose if your housing amount goes straight to your landlord.

You can choose this option on your account online within the first 60 days of a claim. After this period, the option will disappear but you can request it through your journal.

If you choose to get paid twice a month, you will receive your first payment in full and then payments every 2 weeks. Keep in mind that this will mean there is 6 weeks between your first and second payments.
