What are the application deadlines for Student Finance in England?
Most years, if your course starts…
- Between 1st August and 31st December: you should apply by 31st May.
- Between 1st January and 31st March: you should apply by 30th September.
- Between 1st April and 30th June: you should apply by 31st December.
- Between 1st July and 31st July: you should apply by 31st March.
These deadlines vary a little from year to year, so be sure to check with the Student Finance helpline before you apply.
Remember, you do not need to have a firm offer from the university, college or higher education facility to apply. Make sure to apply before these deadlines even if you are still waiting for the institution to reply.
These deadlines are for students in England only. There are different dates for Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish applications.
You can apply for up to 9 months after your course has started. But you will be responsible for all the costs at the start. If you’re starting a degree at university but your application is late, you will be responsible for the fees. Student finance will then repay you at a later date.
