Role: Youth Worker

The Role
We are looking for a youth worker that will be expected to be working full time. We aim to specifically widen access for 14 to 18-year-olds who come from groups which have not traditionally entered health volunteering.
As a youth worker, you will assist with planning and delivering the cadets programme to young people and you’ll help create a safe, inclusive and open environment where young people can learn important life skills to prepare them for health volunteering.
Key responsibilities:
- Running outreach sessions
- Supporting Volunteers
- Write and presenting reports
- Recruit and manage staff, including volunteers
- Facilitate workshops in schools and community settings
- Work with other organisations, such as schools, community groups and the police
- Set up and run arts-based activities, community/environmental projects, residential activities, outdoor education and sporting activities
Person specification:
- Experience of working with young people
- Experience of planning a programme of activities
- Experience of communication with young people through a variety of media, and in a variety of settings
- Knowledge of Youth Work and young people’s development needs
- An understanding of the problems socially excluded young people encounter
