The Role
Are you an excellent practitioner with a demonstrable knowledge and understanding of early years and the importance of supporting children to reach their full potential? We are currently recruiting for a passionate, caring, dedicated Nursery Practitioner to be responsible for the medical, educational, and psychological care of newborns, infants, and small children to join our team.
To be a successful Nursery Practitioner, you should be skilled in and dedicated to infant handling and you should demonstrate a strong sense of empathy and compassion.
Key responsibilities:
- Support a learning culture that encourages pupils to foster a love of learning. Showing compassion, empathy and due diligence to all pupil’s safety and wellbeing at all times
- Create stimulating learning environments, both inside and outside the classroom they are based, that enable children to make excellent progress
- Use assessments of key children to feed into the planning in the classroom
- Identify key children’s needs and setting realistic and challenging next steps that are shared with parents every half term
- Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand and when necessary follow safeguarding procedures
- Ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and the Food Safety Regulations are complied with
Person specification:
- Work experience within the early years sector
- Current 12hrs paediatric First Aid Certificate
- Experience as a key person
- Knowledge of the curriculum and regulatory requirement
- Proven ability to work as part of team to ensure essential day to day tasks are completed in line with nursery demands ie. Hygiene standards and room preparation
- Knowledge of Local Authority and Regulatory requirements and inspection processes across the UK

- Good communication skills
- Experience of working within a play-based setting
- Good leadership skills
- Ability to show initiative
- General fitness, as you’ll be on your feet and moving around for the majority of the day
- Ability to work in a team and individually
- A positive, can-do, enthusiastic approach to tasks
