Role: Merchandiser

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Merchandiser to produce sales by providing point-of-purchase and shelf management services. You will hold a critical role to shape and influence how we report, analyse and partner with other functions to build the range, identify risks and opportunities and work closely with merchandising teams and the IT department in improving processes and introducing exciting new systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contributing to profit management through accurate forecasting and recommendations for action
  • Identifying opportunities to improve sales performance
  • Preparing range plans by grade and format, supporting range presentations and supporting space planning principles to achieve maximum return on space
  • Ensuring promotional activity is phased in line with markdown strategy
  • Managing terminal stock levels and control range exit plans
  • Monitoring flow of stock in and out of the Distribution Centre
  • Ensuring allocations are actioned as per range plan
  • Monitoring and reviewing supplier performance, intake and gross profit margin, new orders, line profitability, ranging, minimum credible offer, results on test product

Person specification:

  • Experience as a Merchandiser within a large multi-site retail environment in jewellery, accessories, or apparel.
  • Highly numerate with highly developed analytical thinking
  • Passion for customers with high commitment to service excellence

Desirable skills / expertise:

  • Thorough understanding of merchandising trends and industry best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision making skills
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to managers, staff and suppliers
  • A proven track record of achieving excellent results with merchandising strategies and promotional activity
