The Role
We are looking to recruit personable, flexible and motivated Health Care Assistants to support our qualified staff with the delivery of care to our patients.
You will be involved in supporting our services users to gain skills to manage their eating disorders. You will be caring and attentive with the skills to build strong and trusting relationships with people. It is also important that you work well in a team as you will work alongside qualified nurses and staff from other professions. The role entails some night shifts so flexibility regarding shift times is required.
Key responsibilities:
- Observe report and record changes in the clients physical, mental health and behaviour
- Provide care for people who use our services as planned in Multi – disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
- Be aware of and work to the principles of the Mental Health Act (MHA)
- Give and receive clear messages by telephone and or personal contact
- Provide the necessary physical care to people who use our services to help them complete daily living activities i.e. personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, personal environment, elimination, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, physical observations
Person specification:
- Must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Minimum NVQ level 2 in Health; Social Care or equivalent and working towards level 3
- Ideally previous experience in hospital and healthcare setting
Desirable skills / expertise:
- Ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team
- Have a positive and dynamic approach to providing safe and effective delivery of care
- Excellent communication skills (oral + written) with fluency in English
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Sensitivity and understanding
