The Role

As a Care Assistant you will provide person centred care and support to assist residents to maintain their independence including personal care, meal times, and activities whilst also providing a listening ear to those who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the nursing team and undertake duties as directed by a registered nurse
- Escort patients to and from the clinical area to the waiting areas or transport
- Serve patient drinks and snacks during treatment as required
- Undertake basic health checks with patients pre and post dialysis including weight and blood pressure
- Check and clean equipment following appropriate training
- Assist with patient documentation as appropriate
- Prepare, restore and maintain areas and equipment for clinical treatments, ensuring that supplies and machines are readily available
- Assisting residents with personal care duties such as bathing, dressing, toileting and incontinence care. Providing the highest standards of care, you’ll champion the dignity, and independence of all our residents
Person specification:
- Must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Minimum NVQ level 2 in Health; Social Care or equivalent and working towards level 3
- Ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team
- Have a positive and dynamic approach to providing safe and effective delivery of care
- Strong ethics
- Well-organized and reliable
Desirable skills / expertise:
- Excellent communication skills (oral + written) with fluency in English
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Outstanding patient management skills
- Ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure
