Hours: 3-12 per week
Late afternoon/early evenings & occasional half day on Saturdays
With additional hours to be worked as required to meet the demands of the Centre activities.
Pay Scale: £10.50 per hour depending upon experience
Place of work: – Christ Church Centre, Henley on Thames
Main purpose of the role:
Overseeing the safety and maintenance of the building and ensuring that the premises is in compliance with all applicable regulations. Recommending and coordinating repairs and improvements to ensure a safe, functional and appealing space.
Accountable to: Centre Manager
Key Responsibilities
• Maintaining a safe environment with proper lighting, signage and disability access
• Overseeing security, fire prevention and CCTV systems
• Carrying out electrical equipment testing
• Inspecting the building, fittings and equipment frequently for signs of damage or wear and reporting all defects or faults to the Centre Manager
• Ensure that rooms are suitably heated, furnished and equipped as required by users in accordance with the schedule of activities and events, and cleared away after use
• Ensure the Centre and its direct surroundings are kept clean and tidy
• Check and replace consumables and cleaning and maintenance materials; receiving, checking and putting away deliveries
• Work within the policies and procedures including Equality of Opportunity and Health and Safety
• Attend staff meetings and training as necessary
• Work as an effective member of the staff team
• Carry out such other reasonable duties as may be required by the Centre Manager to assist in the running of the Community Centre.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential
• Experience of working in a busy community-based environment
• High quality customer service skills
• Good organisational skills
Desirable
• Trained or a willingness to train in First Aid
• Trained or a willingness to train as a Fire Warden
• Qualified PAT tester
