JOB ROLE DESCRIPTION – NIGHT SENIOR CARER

This is a team leader/junior management position and as such the applicant must have experience in managing and running a small team in a Care Home, or a similar environment.  They must be prepared to, and capable of, running the Home in the absence of the Manager and/or Deputy Manager.

Qualifications needed as a minimum

·         NVQ3

·         Adult Protection

·         Mental Capacity & DOLs

·         Dementia Awareness

·         Infection Control

·         Moving & Handling

·         Fire Marshal

·         First Aid

·         Experience & Training in dispensing medication

Person Profile

·         Clean, smart appearance

·         Confident and capable of managing a team

·         Must have a caring & flexible attitude, ensuring that Residents are treated with kindness and respect at all times.

·         Proactive – able to “think on their feet and deal with emergencies when /if they arise

·         Good communication and written skills

·         Prepare to enhance their skills and qualifications

Duties – listed below are some, not all of the duties that the Senior Carer is required to carry out discussions on other tasks and duties expected of a senior carer will be discussed at interview.

·         Supervising other team members and ensuring all allocated tasks are carried out in a timely manner and to a high standard e.g. helping with meals, making beds/tidying rooms/dressing/toileting Residents etc

·         Reporting to the Oaklands Manager or her Deputy, any concerns they may have regarding Residents or Staff e.g. health, behaviour, Safe guarding issues

·         Liaising with doctors, district nurses and hospital staff

·         Making appointments with Opticians/chiropodists and other outside agencies as required

·         Writing and updating Care Plans & ensuring the team keep their records upto date

·         Accompanying Residents to Doctor or Hospital Appointments

·         Reporting to the Oaklands Manager, or her Deputy, any concerns they may have regarding Residents or Staff

Hours

·         On call from Duties

·         A minimum of one full weekend per month and be on call from Friday morning at 08.00 until 08.00 on Monday morning
