About the Company

Sella Askus are a sub-contract engineering machine shop based in Chadderton Oldham and form Part of the P21 group.

Sella-Askus Engineering was founded in 1978 by Peter Ratcliffe and Kieran Burgess in the cellar of a mill in Buxworth, Derbyshire. In the early days, the owners used to say just “ask us” and we will machine it for you. This is where the name originates from and soon after the company was incorporated as Sella-Askus Engineering Ltd.

The company ‘Sella’ made steady progress through the 70’s and 80’s and as a result, moved to much larger premises in Whaley Bridge. The subsequent acquisition of Whitehough Engineering from Chapel-en-le-Frith further helped the growth of Sella and added much needed machining capacity to cope with increasing demand.

The company relocated again, back to Buxworth, near the original mill premises, and continued to offer high quality precision engineering services.

In 2008, Sella was purchased by the Precision 21 Group in order to increase their in-house machining capability. Subsequently Sella was relocated to a modern factory in Oldham, next to the other Precision 21 Group companies, Sterling Sensors and ITIUK.

Further investment in new machines and staff has continued and today Sella is one of the finest precision engineering companies in the region, offering bespoke engineering services to a wide variety of industries including Instrumentation, Rail, Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, General Industry etc.

The Sella motto remains the same “Just Ask Us”
