The starting salary for a Level 1 Teaching Assistant is usually £17,364 in line with the local government pay scale. Level 2 Teaching Assistants can expect to earn between £18,000 to £20,000. Three unions, UNISON, GMB and Unite are campaigning for a pay increase for teaching assistants from April 2023.
