English Courses

Free English courses are government funded English courses for adults who didn’t pass GCSE English or don’t have evidence of a GCSE English pass grade.

Basic English skills are required to apply for most jobs or to enter further education. If you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, it’s likely you’ll be entitled to free English courses up to Functional Skills English Level 2.

What free English qualifications and courses can I choose from?

Functional Skills English has qualifications at five levels, three entry level qualifications, level 1 and level 2. Before starting a English course, you’ll have an initial assessment and diagnostic test. This will help you find out which English test level to start with.

Where can I attend free English classes and sit Functional Skills English tests?
